Basketball Game Preview: Burney Raiders vs. CORE Butte Lynx

The Burney Raiders will square off against the CORE Butte Lynx at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Burney is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Los Molinos on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Burney was dealt a 53-22 defeat at the hands of Los Molinos. The Raiders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-7.

Despite the loss, Burney saw an underclassman step up: sophomore James Fields posted nine points and eight boards. That was a full 40.9% of Burney's points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points.

Meanwhile, CORE Butte was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They had to suffer through an 86-34 loss at the hands of Plumas Charter. The Lynx were down 79-27 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

CORE Butte's loss dropped their record down to 1-18. As for Burney, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.
