Softball Recap: Campolindo Wins Going Away Against Hercules

Campolindo lost to Hercules back in March of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Cougars put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 15-8 win. Considering the Cougars have won four matches by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Paige Williams made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Clara Hwang was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Lucy Wilson was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs.

Campolindo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Campolindo and bumps their season record up to 4-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.0 runs over those games. As for Hercules, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-5-1 record this season.

Campolindo will be playing at home against Concord at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars are facing the Bears at the right time seeing as the Bears are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Hercules, they will venture away from home to take on Albany at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
