Basketball Recap: Canton Central Catholic Comes Up Short

Canton Central Catholic suffered their biggest defeat since December 28, 2023 on Wednesday. They came up short against the Washington Tigers, falling 61-39. The loss continues a trend for the Crusaders in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.

Leading Washington to victory were La Nia Moore and Delaney Pierce. Moore dropped a triple-double on 14 points, 12 boards, and ten steals, while Pierce dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Pierce is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kynslie Williams, who posted nine points and three steals.

Canton Central Catholic's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-5. As for Washington, their win bumped their record up to 11-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canton Central Catholic will host Orrville at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Washington, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Washington Tigers face off against the Canfield Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
