With a playoff win on the line, Northwestern Area rose to the challenge on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Gayville-Volin Raiders. The victory was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on 16 straight.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northwestern Area to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sophia Troske, who had 15 digs and one assist. Brenna Halvorson was another key player, getting six aces.

Northwestern Area was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in ten consecutive matchups.

Northwestern Area's win bumped their record up to 36-2. As for Gayville-Volin, with the defeat, they broke their 16-match winning streak and moved their record to 31-5.

Northwestern Area wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Warner on the 21st. As for Gayville-Volin, they have also already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Harding County on the 21st.
