Softball Recap: Sullivan Extends Home Winning Streak to 13

Sullivan strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They never let the North Daviess Cougars get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Golden Arrows also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Mylee Vandevender was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaylynn Hobbs, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Aphtyn Earley, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Sullivan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Sullivan's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for North Daviess, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Coming up, Sullivan will take on Living Water Homeschool in a tournament on Friday. The Golden Arrows' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Marlins have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for North Daviess, they will take on White River Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
