Baseball Recap: Olive's Losing Streak Snapped at Seven Games

After low-scoring totals in their previous four contests, Olive brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They were the clear victor by a 15-5 margin over the Yale Bulldogs on Monday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Robbie Doremus made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over 4.2 innings pitched. Doremus was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Dustyn Bruce was a standout: he scored four runs and stole Five bases. while going 4-for-4. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Nickell, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Olive always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Olive's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Yale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Olive will venture away from home to take on Graham/Dustin at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Yale, they will head out to face off against Shidler at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
