Basketball Recap: Byron Arant's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Southeast Guilford over Southwest Guilford

Southeast Guilford fought the good fight in their overtime match against Southwest Guilford on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Southwest Guilford Cowboys 68-64. The defeat continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Cowboys: they've now lost five in a row.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Byron Arant, who went 7-for-15 on his way to 16 points along with six boards and four steals. Arant is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 47% in the last five games he's played. Jayce Brannon was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Southeast Guilford's loss dropped their record down to 8-16. As for Southwest Guilford, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-7.

Southeast Guilford does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Southwest Guilford, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 87-61 win against Grimsley on the 18th.
