Basketball Preview: King & Queen Central Royal Tigers vs. Mathews Blue Devils
King & Queen Central and the Blue Devils are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. Having just played yesterday, the King & Queen Central Royal Tigers will get right back to it and host the Mathews Blue Devils at 6:30 p.m. on February 6th. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around on Tuesday.
King & Queen Central won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Monday. They were dealt a 62-23 loss at the hands of Essex. While losing is never fun, King & Queen Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 358th, while the Trojans are ranked 132nd).
Meanwhile, Mathews had to suffer through a rough 54-8 loss at the hands of the Lions. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Mathews has scored all season.
King & Queen Central's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Mathews, their loss dropped their record down to 5-16.
King & Queen Central was able to grind out a solid victory over the Blue Devils when the teams last played back in January, winning 31-18. Will King & Queen Central repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
