Basketball Recap: Douglas Byrd Comes Up Short

Douglas Byrd played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 72-36 defeat at the hands of the South View Tigers. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-23.

They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Geomari Young and Anthony Whitehead, who each put up eight points.

South View got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jamaal Brown out in front who went 5 for 6 on his way to 13 points. What's more, Brown also racked up two steals, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Darin Word was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

Douglas Byrd dropped their record down to 4-5 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for South View, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.

Douglas Byrd wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 60-48 defeat against Jack Britt on the 4th. As for South View, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 72-44 victory against Westover on the 4th.
