Baseball Game Preview: West Caldwell Warriors vs. West Lincoln Rebels

West Caldwell hasn't had much luck against West Lincoln recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Warriors will venture away from home to take on the Rebels at 7:00 p.m. West Lincoln took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on West Caldwell, who comes in off a win.

West Caldwell made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Lincolnton, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Warriors put the hurt on the Wolves with a sharp 10-4 win on Friday.

Rylee Story spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Joshton Blankenship was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Landon Martin, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

West Caldwell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincolnton only posted an OBP of .219.

Meanwhile, West Lincoln suffered their closest loss since April 17, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Newton-Conover by a score of 4-2.

West Lincoln has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.33 runs. West Caldwell's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-16.

West Caldwell might still be hurting after the 14-0 loss they got from West Lincoln in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
