Basketball Recap: Ten Straight Home Wins for Sanford

On Friday, Sanford faced St. Andrew in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Sanford Warriors walked away with a 63-52 win over the St. Andrew's Cardinals. That's more bragging rights for the Warriors, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Sanford's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Khareem Hart, who went 10 of 19 on his way to 22 points and five boards. Hart is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Zir Ellegood was another key player, putting up ten points along with five assists and four steals.

Sanford's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.6 points per game. As for St. Andrew's, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Sanford will head out on the road to square off against William Penn at 3:00 p.m. on January 18th. As for St. Andrew's, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 30-15 win against Odessa on the 14th.
