Basketball Recap: Corvian Community's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Corvian Community waltzed into their game on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came out on top against the Lincoln Charter Eagles by a score of 74-64. This was a revenge game for the Cardinals: when they faced off against the Eagles back in December of 2024, they had to take a 68-62 defeat.

Corvian Community got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Doug Quarles III out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. That's the most boards Quarles III has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was AJ Jackson Jr., who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten assists.

Corvian Community was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln Charter only posted five assists.

Lincoln Charter's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Mckennon Showers, who went 6 for 10 en route to 19 points and five blocks, and David Reed IV, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was Reed IV's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Cogan, who posted nine points.

Corvian Community is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.6 points per game. As for Lincoln Charter, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-6.

Corvian Community wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 87-52 win against Lake Norman Christian on the 25th. As for Lincoln Charter, they will welcome Community School of Davidson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Community School of Davidson knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Lincoln Charter likes a good challenge.
