The Independence Blue Devils will venture away from home to challenge the Berea-Midpark Titans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Independence is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.8 runs per game this season.

Independence is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Nordonia just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights.

Anderson Jolliffe was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Dom Narduzzi, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Berea-Midpark waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They had just enough and edged out the Raiders 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Titans have posted since April 21st.

Anthony Birch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Danny Bowser was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

Berea-Midpark hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbia struck out 14 times.

Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 16-4. As for Berea-Midpark, their record now sits at 9-11.

Berea-Midpark's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Independence hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .377.
