Softball Recap: 20 Straight Home Wins for Mathews

Mathews came tearing into Saturday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Wellsville Tigers as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by nine runs or more this season.

Mathews pushed their record up to 21-4 with the win, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Wellsville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 15 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.

Mathews will be playing in front of their home fans against Windham at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs are facing the Bombers at the right time seeing as the Bombers are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. Wellsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
