Softball Recap: Normal West Takes a Loss

If Normal West was riding high fresh off their 20-8 takedown of Urbana on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats fell 12-9 to the Peoria Notre Dame Irish on Saturday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Irish apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Rylee Hollings led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Aleigha Bittner was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.

Normal West's loss dropped their record down to 11-17. As for Peoria Notre Dame, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-13.

Looking ahead, Normal West will square off against Pontiac at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Peoria Notre Dame does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
