Recap: Thomson Bulldogs vs. Toombs County Bulldogs
The Thomson Bulldogs and the Toombs County Bulldogs squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Thomson Bulldogs had to settle for second. They took a 41-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. Thomson's defeat signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Thomson lost, one person who can't be blamed is Anthony Jeffery. Despite the final result, he rushed for 128 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Jeffery was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 52 yards. Jamere Roberts was another key contributor, rushing for 47 yards and two touchdowns.
Tj Stanley was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 73 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, and also threw for 170 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 passes. Another player making a difference was Gavin Fletcher, who picked up 114 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Thomson's loss dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Toombs County, they pushed their record up to 11-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Thomson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Toombs County will head out on the road to face off against Rockmart at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (Rockmart: 11.2, Toombs County: 10.2) so any points scored will be well earned.
