Softball Recap: Jefferson County Comes Up Short

Jefferson County made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Knoxville Central, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Patriots fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 5-3 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Patriots have suffered since March 19th.

Kayli Reece was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

Jefferson County's defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-15-1. As for Knoxville Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson County will take on Cherokee at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots are facing the Chiefs at the right time seeing as the Chiefs are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Knoxville Central, they will face off against Cosby at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bobcats will also cruise into their next contest with the timing on their side: the Eagles will have lost 13 straight heading into Monday's game.
