Volleyball Recap: Santiago Comes Up Short

After flying high against Centennial last Thursday, Santiago came back down to earth. The Santiago Sharks took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Claremont Wolfpack on Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Sharks in their meetings with the Wolfpack: they've now lost five in a row.

The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 10-25, 25-23, 25-11.

Logan Chambers paced Santiago's offense, picking up 13 kills. Chambers got some help from Carson Chambers and his 21 assists. Pierce Willardson controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Santiago's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Claremont, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Santiago will be playing at home against Roosevelt at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Roosevelt will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Santiago surely won't give up without a fight. As for Claremont, they will head out to take on Etiwanda at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give Claremont their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.
