Baseball Game Preview: Tulare Western Mustangs vs. Lemoore Tigers

For the second straight game, Tulare Western will face off against Lemoore. The Mustangs will be playing at home against the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Tulare Western's offense. They fell just short of Lemoore by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Mustangs have suffered against the Tigers since March 27, 2023.

For Lemoore's part, Nick Johnson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Johnson has become a key player for Lemoore: the team is undefeated when he posts at least ten strikeouts, but 5-6 otherwise. Johnson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Lemoore pushed their record up to 9-6 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Tulare Western, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9-1 record this season.
