Softball Recap: Saugerties Comes Up Short

Saugerties lost to Valley Central back in May of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Sawyers came up short against the Vikings, falling 13-1. The Sawyers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Saugerties saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alanna Mower, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Ava Stinemire also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Saugerties' loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Valley Central, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-2.

Looking ahead, Saugerties will head out to face off against Wallkill at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Sawyers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Valley Central, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-0 victory against Monticello on the 13th.
