Volleyball Game Preview: Liberty Bison vs. Citrus Hill Hawks

The Liberty Bison will venture away from home to square off against the Citrus Hill Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty will be strutting in after a victory while Citrus Hill will be coming in after a defeat.

Liberty took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Hemet by a score of 3-1. The Bison haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Liberty had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 24-26, 25-20, 25-17, 25-18.

Liberty's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashtyn Collier, who had 28 assists and five digs. Collier is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 15 or more in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jeremy Mallabo, who had 14 digs and one assist.

Meanwhile, Citrus Hill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to Paloma Valley.

While Citrus Hill was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-23, 25-20.

Citrus Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Liberty, their win bumped their record up to 23-11.

Liberty took their victory against Citrus Hill in their previous meeting on April 1st by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bison since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
