Basketball Game Preview: Powell County Pirates vs. Menifee County Wildcats

The Powell County Pirates will take on the Menifee County Wildcats at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Powell County easily dispatched Lee County last Wednesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Powell County fell just short of Breathitt County by a score of 79-76 on Friday. The Pirates have struggled against the Bobcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Menifee County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. The game between them and West Carter didn't end well, with Menifee County falling 59-43.

Powell County's loss dropped their record down to 15-9. As for Menifee County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-21.

Powell County beat Menifee County 51-42 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Will Powell County repeat their success, or does Menifee County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
