Basketball Recap: Bridgeport's Loss Ends Ten-Game Winning Streak at Home

Bridgeport entered their matchup against Decatur on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Bridgeport Bulls took a hard 60-44 fall against the Decatur Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Bulls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Eagles are ranked 21st).

Several Bulls players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gracie Rodriguez, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards. Rodriguez continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Presley Radke was another key player, putting up seven points.

Decatur got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Style Brazile out in front who posted 18 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven assists. The dominant performance gave Brazile a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Sayler Peck, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 boards.

Bridgeport's defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 24-6. As for Decatur, the win was the 19th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 25-3.

Bridgeport has already played their next game, an 80-37 victory against Eagle Mountain on the 21st. As for Decatur, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 113-7 win against Castleberry on the 21st.
