Basketball Preview: Loyalton Grizzlies vs. Providence Lions
Loyalton has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. Having just played yesterday, they will head out on the road to face off against the Providence Lions at 4:00 p.m. on February 6th. Loyalton has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 300 points over their last four games.
Loyalton pushed their score all the way to 84 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 92-84 to Portola. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Loyalton in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost five in a row.
Meanwhile, Providence's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 55-21 loss at the hands of Paradise Adventist Academy. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Providence has scored all season.
Loyalton's defeat dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Providence, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Loyalton against the Lions in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 71-31 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Loyalton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
