Baseball Game Preview: Glastonbury Guardians vs. East Catholic Eagles

The Glastonbury Guardians will head out on the road to take on the East Catholic Eagles at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.

On Thursday, Glastonbury came up short against East Lyme and fell 6-2. The Guardians have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, East Catholic entered their tilt with Stratford on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Red Devils get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. Considering the Eagles have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

East Catholic pushed their record up to 14-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Glastonbury, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.

Glastonbury was able to grind out a solid win over East Catholic when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 8-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Guardians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
