Softball Recap: Tulare Western Comes Up Short

Tulare Western was the 14-1 winner over Shafter when they last played one another back in March of 2015, but their luck changed this time around. The Mustangs lost 11-5 to the Generals on Monday. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Alivea Salcedo was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Tulare Western's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5-1. As for Shafter, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5-2 record this season.

Tulare Western and Shafter should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Mustangs (ranked 170th) will meet Lemoore (ranked 683rd) at 4:30 p.m. on the 23rd. Meanwhile, Shafter will face off against Taft at 4:00 p.m. on the 22nd with a big rank advantage (234 vs. 500).
