Softball Recap: Bunker Hill Extends Winning Streak to Three

Bunker Hill had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the North Iredell Raiders. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bears have posted since March 1st.

Serena Thurman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kyra Ryhal was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Victoria Bentley, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Bunker Hill's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for North Iredell, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Bunker Hill has already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against West Caldwell on the 28th. As for North Iredell, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 20-10 defeat against North Lincoln on the 28th.
