Recap: Plainedge Red Devils vs. South Side Cyclones
There's no place like home for The Plainedge Red Devils, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They secured a 21-16 W over South Side on Friday. The victory was all the more spectacular given Plainedge's disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 89th, while South Side is ranked 28th).
Plainedge found their leader in underclassman Dylan Fella, who rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries. Jack Rizzo made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Plainedge's win was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 5-2. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 28 points. As for South Side, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Plainedge will take on Lynbrook at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for South Side, they will head out on the road to face off against Floral Park Memorial at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
