After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Norwell, Heritage was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Garrett Railroaders. The victory continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Railroaders: they've now won three in a row.
Danica Fuller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Lucy Buuck was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Abriyah James, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Heritage's record now sits at 13-6. As for Garrett, their loss dropped their record down to 15-6.
Heritage didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 11-1 defeat against Jay County on the 15th. As for Garrett, they have also already played their next contest, a 17-2 win against Fremont on the 13th.
