Baseball Recap: Central Aroostook Victorious

Central Aroostook took a 13-run loss the last time they faced off against Southern Aroostook, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Warriors 11-10 on Monday. With that win, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Jonathan McDonald made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Central Aroostook is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 0-6 otherwise. McDonald was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dayton Taylor, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Trace Kinney, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Central Aroostook's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-7. As for Southern Aroostook, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.
