Basketball Recap: Ben Stewart's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bluff Dale over Lingleville

Bluff Dale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 53-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lingleville Cardinals. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 53-47 back in January.

Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ben Stewart, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Stewart is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Alex Saucedo, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 13 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Bluff Dale smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Bluff Dale's defeat dropped their record down to 13-15. As for Lingleville, they pushed their record up to 22-8 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Bluff Dale Bobcats take on the Gorman Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lingleville, they will head out on the road to square off against Huckabay at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Huckabay will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something Lingleville surely won't give up without a fight.
