Basketball Recap: Anna Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Anna ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They secured a 74-70 W over the Sherman Bearcats. This was payback for the Coyotes, who suffered a 55-44 loss the last time these two teams met.

Anna was led to victory by Karson Jones and Lamin Foon. Jones went 11 of 20 on his way to 27 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds, while Foon went 9 for 12 on his way to 21 points in addition to seven boards and five blocks. Jones' afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylin Williams, who posted ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Anna smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in November of 2023.

Anna's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-14. As for Sherman, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-15.

Anna and Sherman could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Anna (ranked 540th) will meet Walnut Grove (ranked 57th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Sherman (ranked 416th) will meet Denison (ranked 176th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
