Baseball Recap: Creekview's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Creekview lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Newman Smith, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's matchup. The Mustangs never let the Trojans get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Mustangs as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Mark Rojas made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Creekview is 3-1-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-9-2 otherwise. Rojas was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jorky Rondon, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2025.

Creekview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory got Creekview back to even at 10-10-3. As for Newman Smith, their loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-14.

Creekview will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Trojans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
