Baseball Recap: Westbrook Wins Going Away Against Roby

Westbrook had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the Roby Lions on Thursday as the Westbrook Wildcats made off with a 14-1 victory. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Brett Rich was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in both of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Landon Rodriguez was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

Westbrook was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in ten consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Coming up, Westbrook will challenge Gordon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Roby will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Winters at 4:00 p.m. on March 11th.
