Baseball Recap: Lake Stevens Has No Trouble Against Kamiak

After losing to Kamiak the last time they met, Lake Stevens decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Lake Stevens blew past Kamiak 14-4 on Thursday. With that win, the Vikings brought their scoring average up to 7.6 runs per game.

Manny McLaurin tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off only two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Seth Danielson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Dylan Phinney, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Lake Stevens hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kamiak struck out eight times.

Lake Stevens now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Kamiak, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Stevens will head out to take on Edmonds-Woodway at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Kamiak, they will venture away from home to face off against Lake Stevens at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
