Basketball Game Preview: Watkins Mill Wolverines vs. Magruder Colonels

Watkins Mill hasn't had much luck against Magruder recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Watkins Mill Wolverines will venture away from home to challenge the Magruder Colonels at 7:15 p.m. Watkins Mill has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 211 points over their last three games.

Watkins Mill took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They strolled past Wheaton with points to spare, taking the game 87-70. The Wolverines' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Magruder over Damascus in every quarter on their way to victory on Monday. Magruder blew past Damascus 55-30.

Watkins Mill better keep an eye on Wil Dabbondanza. He was instrumental in Magruder's win, going 6 of 11 en route to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Crandall, who posted five points along with five boards and five steals.

Magruder has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season. As for Watkins Mill, the win also got them back to even at 5-5.

Watkins Mill came up short against Magruder in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 75-70. Can Watkins Mill avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
