Softball Recap: East Carter's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

East Carter extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping their season record up to 16-4 in the process. Everything went their way against the Lewis County Lions as they made off with a 13-3 victory. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by ten runs or more this season.

Payton Rice was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brynlee Walker was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Shelby Felty, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

East Carter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in five consecutive games.

As for Lewis County, they now have a losing record of 9-10. As for they, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-10.

On Lewis County's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kiya Noble, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

East Carter wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 15-0 win against Mason County on the 19th. Lewis County has also already played their next contest (against West Carter), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
