Recap: Geneva Panthers vs. Ponce De Leon Pirates
After flying high against the Geneva County Bulldogs on Friday, the Geneva Panthers came back down to earth. Geneva fell 27-20 to Ponce De Leon on Monday.
Despite the loss, Geneva saw an underclassman step up: Erica Torres scored 8 points along with 10 rebounds and 3 steals. Torres is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was RayAnna Ausley, who scored 4 points along with 4 steals.
Geneva has fallen quite a ways from their 28-5 record last season and are now at 1-2. As for Ponce De Leon, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Geneva will take on Carroll at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Ponce De Leon, they will be playing at home against Chipley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
