Basketball Game Preview: Essex Hornets vs. Rice Memorial Green Knights

Essex is 1-9 against Rice Memorial since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Essex Hornets are taking a road trip to square off against the Rice Memorial Green Knights at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Essex is coming into the game on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight wins. They managed a 71-66 victory over Burr & Burton on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Rice Memorial came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They beat the Wolves by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 70-53.

Rice Memorial pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Essex, their victory bumped their record up to 4-12.

Essex came up short against Rice Memorial in their previous meeting back in January, falling 81-70. Can Essex avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
