Basketball Recap: Jefferson Dragons vs. Wharton Wildcats
Jefferson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were dealt a 70-26 defeat at the hands of the Wharton Wildcats. The Dragons were probably out for revenge after losing 88-64 to them when the teams met back in January of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Nick Womack continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Wharton, going 11 for 18 on his way to 27 points along with six rebounds and six steals. The dominant performance gave Womack a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayson Montgomery, who posted 17 points.
Jefferson's loss dropped their record down to 1-20. As for Wharton, they pushed their record up to 17-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson will venture away from home to take on Brandon at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
