Soccer Game Preview: McClatchy vs. Cordova

The McClatchy Lions will challenge the Cordova Lancers at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cordova took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on McClatchy, who comes in off a win.

McClatchy had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the four-goal drubbing they dealt Antelope on Tuesday. The Lions put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 5-1 victory. Considering McClatchy's offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

They hit Antelope with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jesus Chavez (2), Christian Deras, Alponse Ramirez, and Max Jacobsen.

Meanwhile, Cordova came up short against West Park on Tuesday and fell 3-1.

McClatchy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those four matchups. As for Cordova, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9-2.

McClatchy was able to grind out a solid victory over Cordova when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 2-0. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lancers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
