Baseball Recap: Monterey Trail Mustangs vs. McClatchy Lions
Monterey Trail was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 9-4 to the McClatchy Lions. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Monterey Trail of the 8-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture last Wednesday.
Monterey Trail saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mario Navarro, who went 1-for-3 with a stolen base. Navarro has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive pitching appearances.
On McClatchy's side, Jackson Halverson was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Rutledge, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
