Softball Recap: Pecatonica Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Pecatonica had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Forreston on Thursday. The Indians were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Cardinals. The Indians not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 21, 2024.

Maren Davis made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

In other batting news, Ellie Bolen was a standout: she scored four runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Sammy Abate was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4.

Pecatonica hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matches.

Pecatonica's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-5. As for Forreston, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pecatonica will square off against Winnebago at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
