Baseball Recap: Midway Comes Up Short

Greenback hit Midway with a four-run second inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Green Wave fell 6-3 to the Cherokees. The Green Wave haven't had much luck with the Cherokees recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Rylan Brewer was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Midway's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 5-17-1 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Steele, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Midway's loss dropped their record down to 10-18-1. As for Greenback, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
