Softball Game Preview: Riverview Sarasota Rams vs. Venice Indians

Riverview Sarasota hasn't had much luck against Venice recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Riverview Sarasota Rams will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Venice Indians at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Riverview Sarasota is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Braden River. Riverview Sarasota never let Braden River get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won three in a row.

The result came thanks to Allison Cole's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up 17 Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Riverview Sarasota's win was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sierra Lipton, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Venice got the win against Lemon Bay on Thursday by a conclusive 16-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.

Jayde Neptune looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, Kiarra Evans was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylin Smith, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Venice always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lemon Bay only posted an OBP of .320.
