Basketball Recap: Leigh Drops Highest Score of Season Against Branham

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Leigh). They put the hurt on the Branham Bruins with a sharp 84-59 win on Wednesday. Given the Longhorns' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 294th, while the Bruins are ranked 825th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Bruins players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Daniel Wells, who went 6 for 8 on his way to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden - Joseph Vietvu, who went 5 of 7 en route to 13 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Leigh and bumps their season record up to 8-6. As for Branham, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leigh will venture away from home to take on Westmont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Westmont's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight contests. Branham has already played their next matchup (against Willow Glen), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
