Baseball Recap: Ralston Valley Comes Up Short

The Ralston Valley Mustangs lost 12-5 to the Erie Tigers on Wednesday. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ralston Valley got a good showing from Porter Peonio, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave Peonio a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Bret Baldwin was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Cooper Julien also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Ralston Valley's record now sits at 2-4. As for Erie, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Coming up, Ralston Valley will square off against ThunderRidge at 4:30 p.m. on April 3. As for Erie, they will take on Denver North at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Erie is facing Denver North at the right time seeing as Denver North is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
