Basketball Recap: Springfield Longhorns vs. Swink Lions
If Springfield was riding high fresh off their 56-23 takedown of Cotopaxi on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Springfield Longhorns were just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 49-48 to the Swink Lions.

Cobi Mackey and Jersey Speck certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Mackey almost dropped a double-double with 24 points and nine steals, while Speck posted 19 points and four steals. Springfield is 13-2 when Mackey posts five or more steals, but 2-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakota Reid, who had three points and five steals.
Even though they lost, Springfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive matches.
Leading Swink to victory were Taylor Mendenhall and Laney James. Mendenhall dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while James put up 13 points. Those 13 points gave James a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jocelynn James, who earned ten points.
Springfield's record is now 15-5. As for Swink, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-11 record this season.
