Hesperia is 0-10 against Oak Hills since March of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Scorpions will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 3:15 p.m. Hesperia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Hesperia turned things around against University Prep on Saturday. They never let the Jaguars get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. The Scorpions not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1st (when they won 20-9).
University Prep's batters probably weren't too happy with Brenden Ozaki, who pitched a no hitter (he gave up two walks). Ozaki has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hunter Mayer, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Carlos Ramirez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Oak Hills unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Serrano by a score of 6-5.
Eric Sotelo was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Sotelo was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Keith Williams was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Jacob Webster, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Hesperia's victory bumped their record up to 13-11. As for Oak Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.
