Preview: Mt. Enterprise Wildcats vs. Cushing Bearkats
The Mt. Enterprise Wildcats will be playing at home against the Cushing Bearkats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Enterprise will be strutting in after a victory while Cushing will be coming in after a defeat.
Even though Mt. Enterprise has not done well against Alto recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Mt. Enterprise snuck past Alto with a 54-50 victory. The win was just what Mt. Enterprise needed coming off of a 72-47 defeat in their prior matchup.
Kaegan Ash and Jack Maples were among the main playmakers for Mt. Enterprise as the former scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and two steals and the latter scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks. Maples is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Durrett, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, Cushing's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 56-55 to Alto. Cushing has not had much luck with Alto recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Mt. Enterprise's win bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Cushing, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-10.
Mt. Enterprise might still be hurting after the 60-39 loss they got from Cushing in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Mt. Enterprise was down 37-16.
